    ACTUALLY vs AT PRESENT

Many foreign students think that Actually means "now". But they are wrong!

ACTUALLY means really or in fact. But if we want to say NOW, we must say AT THE MOMENT, AT PRESENT or simply NOW

    Look:

Mary: Would you like a coffee, Johnny Boy?

Johnny: No, Mary, actually/in fact/really  I'd prefer a whiskey. Could I have a double... two ice

Mary: Sorry Johnny, but at present/at this moment/now I have no whiskey but i have some lovely ice.

Johnny: All right then, give me a glass of milk, Mary girl, no ice

Be careful, student. Actually is a false friend. It is not what it seems.
